The Powelton Club's Tennis Courts
The Powelton Club Lawn Tennis Club of Newburgh, New York was formally organized in 1882. It was one of the original 33 tennis clubs chartered by the United States Lawn Tennis Association. As an interest in tennis grew at The Powelton Club in the late 1920s, the grass courts were resurface to create the red clay courts our members enjoy today. By 1950, we were able to offer our members four doubles courts and one singles court. In recognition of our Club's tennis history, attire on our tennis courts remains tennis whites only. The USTA has selected our courts to host their annual Red Clay Classic tournament each summer.
The Powelton Club offers a Tennis Membership for those interested in enjoying our tennis courts, swimming pools, dining facilities and events without the requirement of playing golf. For more information please contact
